IU Campus Networks provides total network connectivity services, wired and wireless, to IU Bloomington and IUPUI campuses, as well as Internet and main campus network connectivity to IU’s regional campuses.
IU Campus Networks also supports all systems and services housed in the IU Data Centers co-located on the campuses of IU Bloomington and IUPUI and manages firewalls and SSL VPN tunnels.
IU Campus Networks comprises many networks that serve specific purposes, including virtual networks for organizations that require network separation and enhanced security, such as Building Management Systems, the Health Sciences Network, and the IU Health Network. IU Campus Networks is also responsible for DNS for all Internet domains assigned to IU and runs Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), the network protocol that enables servers to automatically assign IP addresses. Campus Networks allocates IP address space across all IU campuses, including the Data Centers.
